The Lingen Davies Sunflower Appeal exists to bring a dedicated cancer treatment centre to Princess Royal Hospital — so that Telford's patients can receive world-class care without leaving their community.

Telford has no cancer centre of its own.
For decades, cancer patients from Telford and the surrounding area have had to travel to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for treatment — a round trip that can take over an hour, often while managing the physical and emotional toll of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or surgery.
For many patients, that journey is made multiple times a week, for months at a time. For elderly patients, those without cars, or those caring for young children, it is not just inconvenient — it is a genuine barrier to care.

Growing up in Dawley, I've seen first-hand how cancer touches families across Telford — including my own. Like so many people here, I know what it means to watch someone you love go through treatment, and how tough that journey can be.
That's why the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund Sunflower Appeal is so important.
It's about bringing more cancer care closer to home — right here in Telford — so that people can access the support and treatment they need without having to travel further afield at what is already one of the most difficult times in their lives.
This is about dignity, fairness, and backing our community. It's about making sure that families in Telford get the care they deserve, closer to where they live.
